Job Overview

We are seeking a full-time Lead Project Manager in our Kansas City (Overland Park) location. This position will report to the Chief Product Officer, who is also located in Kansas City. In this role, you will be responsible for documenting and implementing best-in-class project management processes and leading both large and small projects. Project scope will include one or more of the following components: footwear, electronics, embedded software, application software, and server software.

Role Expectations

  • Develops and maintains a detailed project schedule, staffing plan, and change request register
  • Regular documentation and communication of changes in project timing and project scope
  • Facilitates project status reviews and communication between involved teams
  • Completes complex tasks and/or projects with limited initial definition including taking conceptual ideas/projects and formulating a plan of action or work breakdown for implementation
  • Makes substantial contributions to determining feasibility of project goals
  • Demonstrates advanced risk/issue identification and mitigation skills
  • Drives the implementation of and improvements to product development and project management processes
  • Creates and/or enhances tools used to support project planning and tracking of development activities
  • Offers process improvement suggestions and authors new procedures as needed
  • Regularly use Baliston’s products to enable a deep understanding of customer needs and to help continuously improve the products.
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, including but not limited to handling difficult conversations and negotiations
  • Supports working hours as needed to best align with project development needs – regular morning calls with colleagues in Europe and occasional night calls with colleagues in Asia

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years relevant project management experience OR an equivalent combination of education and project management experience
  • Demonstrated proven track record in leading complex product development or major concept projects which involve multiple subcomponents
  • Previous experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to generate and support pragmatic solutions while maintaining high quality standards
  • Demonstrated success in bringing together cross functional teams for effective problem resolution
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be positive, organized, have strong attention to detail, team-oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead projects in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)

What We’ll Love About You

  • Relevant knowledge of, passion for, or experience in biomechanics, consumer electronics, mobile applications, and consumer health and wellness.
  • Experience implementing product development and project management processes in a small company
  • Fluency in French and/or Mandarin Chinese
